Used in 2002, a technique using the excimer laser which is similar to the one used in LASIK eye surgery has been approved by the FDA. Stretch mark laser removal is now popular in the field practice of cosmetic surgery. It is designed to reduce and remove stretch marks and skin blemishes by removing layers of scarred skin. The application of stretch mark pregnancy creams and taking good care of the skin remains the better solution, but as a last resort, laser treatments may be the answer.

Procedure – Stretch Mark Laser Removal

During a stretch mark laser removal procedure, a laser removes thin layers of skin around the stretch marks. The excimer laser is uniquely efficient at this procedure. Instead of burning or cutting around the affected skin like other lasers, the  laser uses high energy ultraviolet light to disrupt molecular bonds in the tissues of the skin, so that the tissue is disintegrated in a process known as d ‘removal. Once stretch mark laser removal is completed, the treated area will heal quickly, and new layers of healthy skin are formed. It is better to get a stretch mark laser treatment sooner rather than later the older and more severe the marks are the harder it is to fade. The location of stretch marks, whether stretch breasts, on your arm, belly, hips, legs or back, makes no difference.

Sometimes blisters and other symptoms of burns exist, but they are temporary Most patients recover within a few days of treatment, but healing some have been known to take a few weeks in some cases, mostly those who require more extensive therapy. Stretch mark laser removal has made great progress in recent years, the cost and pain associated with stretch mark laser treatments dramatically decreased. Although costs are still not as cheap as one would like, the cost of treatments have not increased in parallel with the rising cost of the newer more advanced stretch mark removal lasers.
